Week of October 8th

Congratulations Hanna Band on your Second Grand Championship!

Recap scores are posted on the board. This is the first time in many years that we have scored in the 90's at every contest. Also Drum Line has placed 1st in class three weeks in a row. The flag corps has placed 1st twice and they also placed 3rd overall at the Boiling Springs Contest our of 27 bands just behind Byrnes and Rock Hill!

There will no more Monday Marching band rehearsals as of October 8th.

Jazz Band Reading rehearsals will start on October 22nd.

Schedule for the week:
Tuesday: Regular Rehearsal: 4:00 to 6:15 Full Band

Wednesday: Battery and Pit outside

Thursday: Regular Rehearsal: 4:00 to 6:15 Full Band

Friday: Home Game with Greenwood:
Call Time will be 5:45
We will march the full show at Halftime

The full Marching Band including Guard will perform at McCants for Red Ribbon Day on Wednesday, October 24th from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.

Tuesday, October 30th will be picture day for full band and sections.

Thursday, November 1st will be a run through rehearsal for the Westside Game from 4:00 to 5:00.

If the team makes the playoffs, we will have run through rehearsals on Fridays before the games. This will be handled on a needs only basis.


Thanks to everyone on your help with the Fall Fund Raiser! It has been a great success and donations continue to come in. We are closing in on clearing between 8,000 to 10,000 in profits!!!!

Remember the all important Fruit Sale!!!! Get to your customers now as this is the
most important fund raiser that we do all year long!!!!!

It is imperative that everyone do their part in order for us to keep band fees low and to make plans for our Spring Trip!!!!!

Region Band music and Region Band music for Auditions are available now from Mr. Whitt. Get your copies now! Recording of the tryout music will be ready next week.

UPPER STATE IS LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AWAY ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20th! OUR PERFORMANCE TIME WILL BE AT 6:30 pm. WE NEED PARENTS AND FRIENDS TO MARK THIS DATE NOW AS WE WILL NEED AS MUCH SUPPORT AS POSSIBLE. AUDIENCE SUPPORT CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE WITH THE OUTCOME OF ANY CONTEST.

Random Events:

Christmas Tree Lighting in Columbia on Sunday, November 25th. If you are a region band participant from previous years you are eligible. This is an all day event at the State House in Columbia on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Sign ups will be posted later.

Tuba Christmas at Polk County High School on Saturday, December 1st. All Day Event and Evening Concert for all interested Tuba and Baritone Players.

Flute Clinic at Bob Jones University in Greenville for all interested flute players of all levels. Cost is $10.00 per student. This is also on Saturday, December 1st.
