German Exchange Students

If any band families are interested in hosting an exchange student please contact Richard Wagner at 864-607-5339. You can also e-mail Richard at francorw@aol.com.

The web site for this information is www.nacelopendoor.org. There are several German exchange students who are also band student that are in need of host families in Anderson. One of them is a Tenor Saxophone player who comes from a private Jazz School in France.

Road trip to Irmo and Random News!

DCI Contest: Saturday, June 24th:

We will leave at 1:30 from the Band Room. Please bring $15.00 for your ticket and some money for food. We will stop on the way to eat fast food. Our return time will be approximately 12 midnight. If you are interested in going, please e-mail the band office now. (richardbaskin@anderson5.net)

Random News:

>The loading dock at the new band room is now finished.

>The band room should be completely finished by July 1st.

>Dance Classes for all Flag Corps members will resume next week. (Wednesday, June 28th)

>We are looking for volunteers on Saturday, July 8th for a work day on the Band Practice Field and in the new band room. We need people to help work on the field, file music, move equipment into the band room, set up lockers etc..We will post specific times at a later date.

>Battery Drum line will have another optional rehearsal on June 30th at 12:30.

>We have ordered a new DW Custom Maple Shell Drum Set for Jazz Band

>Please remember to stock up on Bottled Water to donate for band camp. We will need an endless supply!

>Everything is on schedule with the show and preparations for Band Camp.

Baskin in the Band Room and Drum Corps Road Trip

I will be back in the band room this week. Students who need music or equipment can come by from 8 to 2 any weekday. Please call first to make sure that someone will be there to meet you. Feel free to drop in anytime, as I would like to see as many people as possible before camp!

As soon as the band room is finished we will have several work days to clean up and move back into the new room. Watch for details on this. The new band room and loading dock are going to be great! The completion date is July 1st !

We will provide a bus for the drum corps contest at Irmo High School on the 24th of June. If you are interested in going, please e mail me at richardbaskin@anderson5.net NO LATER THAN JUNE 14th. Tickets will be $15.00. You will need additional money for food. We will post additional details at a later date.

What's New This Fall!

The Band Room Renovation will be completed by July 1st! We will need volunteers to help set up and clean up the newly expanded space.

David Fry will be conducting weekly woodwind classes this fall during the Chamber Winds Block.

George McIntyre will teach weekly "Rhythm Section" classes during the Chamber Block. George is a Hanna Band Alumni who taught in the music department at the University of Southern California for eight years.

Bassist Brian Mulholland, another Hanna Band Alumni, will be composing an original composition for the Hanna Jazz Band. Brian currently on tour with trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson. Check out Brian at www.brianmulholland.com.

We are in the planning stages of setting up a project that will collect donated items to assist a school band program that was affected by the Hurricane Katrina disaster in the New Orleans area. Watch for updates on this important issue!
